Ralph Lysell ägde den förmågan. I Norge designade han en livbåt i aluminium, vars kantiga form gjorde den stabil. För att bevisa att båten inte kunde kantra och var osänkbar seglade Ralph Lysell den själv genom hård vind, dis och snötjocka från Svelvik i Vestfold i Norge till Göteborg i Sverige. Färden tog tre dagar. Ralph Lysell startade sedan 1945 Sveriges första designkontor. “Sveriges första industridesigner” har sammanställts utifrån material från Designarkiv, som är ett samarbete mellan Centrum för Näringslivshistoria och Svensk Form.

Formstudier till denna telefon hade redan utförts av designern Ralph Lysell i början av 1940-talet, men andra världskriget stoppade vidareutvecklingen och Lysell lämnade Ericssons designavdelning 1944.
